The Rude Mechanicals Band

About the Artist

The Rude Mechanicals Band formed in 2016 after singer Wes was asked by BBC Radio 3’s In Tune show to perform songs he’d composed against Shakespeare texts at the RSC in Stratford upon Avon, with violin player Jools Street and percussionist Ben Haines, alongside Rufus Wainwright & Gigspanner. Since then the band has expanded to include viola player Katrin Gilbert of The Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, and masterful double bassist, John Parker (Nizlopi/The Willows/Paper Aeroplanes/Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker). Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Wes Finch has supported the likes of Billy Bragg and Martin Carthy and in 2015, released his well-received fourth studio album, Awena, produced by critically acclaimed Gerry Diver (Lisa Knapp/Sam Lee/O’Hooley & Tidow). In April this year, The Rude Mechanicals Band released their first album, Exit, Pursued By a Bear, and they continue to write and play songs inspired by literature.
