Ram’s Pasture Poets

This event will take place over zoom webinar with the Poets and John Watson. We will then watch the pre-recorded performances of Ram’s Pasture Poets.  You will be sent a link to the meeting on the day of the event.

Matt Black lives in Leamington Spa and writes for adults and children. A specialist in commissions, he is a joyful mischief maker, a serious entertainer, a reluctant grown-up and a celebrationist. He was Derbyshire Poet Laureate (2011-2013). His poems are published in magazines and his most recent collection is Sniffing Lamp-posts by Moonlight (Upside Down, 2020) which is all poems inspired by dogs, based on his one-man show The Snoopy Question.

Liz Jolly has been quietly, gently and outrageously shaking the poetry world by the roots. Her words rhyme, resonate wildly, chime with a clarion bell to minds, enlightened from burdens of worriesome weight. Her reading out stance where she shoots from the hip, leaning long legs, to the crowd. Unconcerned by notoriety, carefree to fame, she to me is the Muses most favourite Dame!  – John Watson, Poetry critic.

Andrea Mbarushimana has published two chapbooks ‘The Africa in my House’ from Silhouette Press and the V20 competition winning ‘Air Show’ from Gloucestershire Poetry Society and has had poems featured in various anthologies and litmags. A Coventry / Cork Poetry exchange poet in 2017 and City of Culture commissioned poet in 2019, this year Andrea featured nationally in the BBC Upload Festival. She is in the current cohort of the Room 204 mentoring programme withWriting West Midlands. You can find out more at www.andrea-mbarushimana.com

Aysar Gasshan live in Coventry. His poems have been published in journals including Under The Radar, The Interpreter’s House, The Lampeter Review, Magma, Poetry Birmingham, Here Comes Everyone, Strix, Under the Radar, Abridged, Washington Square Review, The Scores and Tentacular. He was shortlisted in the 2018 Leeds Peace Poetry Competition and in 2019 was a poet in residence at The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, Coventry. In August 2019 he represented Coventry in the annual Coventry-Cork Poetry Exchange. Aysar is currently a Dynamo mentee with Nine Arches Press.

Pure Good and Right is one of the longest running poetry nights in the UK. Formerly hosted in the pubs around Leamington Spa, recently the night has been regularly held in the Treehouse bookshop. With featured poets and an inclusive warm atmosphere, all are made welcome.
