Why hello there! Apologies for the radio silence over the last couple of months. Rest assured that we’ve been busy behind the scenes getting things in place for this year’s Kenilworth Arts Festival. We can’t wait to share details of our 2018 programme – it’s shaping up to the biggest and best yet.
In the meantime, we have a couple of quick announcements to make.
Firstly, some dates for your diary. Kenilworth Arts Festival 2018 will take place from the 20th – 29th September. The eagle-eyed among you will notice that we’re expanding the length of the festival from 7 to 10 days. By doing so, we’ll be able to put on more events without having too many annoying scheduling clashes. It also means that we’ll be able to offer more daytime events, now that the festival will spread over two weekends. Anyway, get the dates in your diary, book the time off work, tell your friends and family, re-schedule those wedding plans, etc.
Secondly, a word on the programme. Fiesta, our free open-air event in the Abbey Fields, will be taking a hiatus in 2018. We love putting on the event and, judging from the feedback we’ve received over last couple of years, know many of you love it too. It’s a huge undertaking, however – it’s a major financial commitment and requires a serious investment of time and effort from volunteers. As a committee, we feel that now is a good time to have a break from the event and take stock, with the intention of bringing it back with a bang in 2019.
The upshot of this decision is that the rest of the programme will be able to blossom. Our Headline Events will feature outstanding musicians and writers from across the country (and beyond!), and our Spotlight Series will introduce you to some of the most exciting new artists around. We’ll also be hosting workshops and exhibitions, and there’ll be family & community events taking place throughout the festival period too. Exciting times.
We’ll be making some announcements over the next couple of weeks so do keep in touch with us via Facebook or Twitter. And if you’re über keen (and why wouldn’t you be?), why not sign up to our mailing list, to get all our news delivered straight to your inbox?
